Live In - Summer Camp - January 2025

Details

Mon 20 Jan 2025 09:00 — Fri 24 Jan 2025 15:00

Event information

Registration for this event closes at Fri 10 Jan 2025 01:30.

It is 5 days of sailing during the day, and a giant (supervised/optional) sleep over by night. Throughout the week, sailors get to hone in on their sailing skills while being taught by our volunteer instructors. With evening activities, nightly movies and shared meals (classic NSC community style) the week is a highlight for our young members.

Parents Roster

As a volunteer run camp, Parents are also part of the experience! Once your child is enrolled, there is a parents roster for all catering, housekeeping and boat lifting duties for you to join. Even if you are working, there are roles that suit all schedules.

The link to the parent roster is here. Please assign yourself 15 points per child.

Shirt Orders Close 30th November 2024

We have been informed by our supplier that we must place our order for Live-In shirts by 30th November. Bookings will remain open, however please note that shirts cannot be guarenteed after this date.

Instructor Race Thursday Night

It is a tradition as long as Live-In. On Thursday night come down to the club and watch the Instructors race it out on Opti's! Yes, big kids on small boats, it is all part of the fun! Bring a picnic blanket or camp chair, a beverage of your choice and grab a slice of pizza while watching the hilarity unfold.

Eligibility Open to all NSC club members aged 7 to 17 years
Venue

NSC Clubhouse.

Children will be outdoors doing sailing activities from about 9am till 5pm.

All meals are served in the clubhouse and children sleep there after an evening activity or movie.

Older participants and Instructors sleep downstairs in the boat bays, supervised by the Senior Instructor.

Limits

Numbers will be restricted to 60 Sleeping in & 10 sleeping at home.

Children sleeping at home are welcome to participate in all other activities, including meals and evening activities. They must be signed in each morning by 7.30am. Contact the Head Instructor for sign-out/pick-up times (generally around 8pm).

Meals

All meals are provided from Morning Tea on Sunday to Lunch on Thursday.

Special dietary needs should be noted on the application form and parents will be consulted accordingly.

Boat

It is highly preferable most children have access to their own boat. An exception is for the second (Summer) Learn-to-Sail intake who can use the club boats and the Live-In Level 1 intake. Parents of the first (Spring) Learn-to-Sail intake who do not yet have a boat should either be trying to buy one, or contacting the Sailing School Principal (training@nsc.asn.au).

Please ensure the boat is in full working order before the Live-In.

All equipment (spars, foils), should be clearly labelled with boat name and number.

The boat must be insured for sailing. Generally the easiest/cheapest insurance is available through Sailing Australia – can be done online.
